How One Trip Inspired It All
A few years ago, I booked a getaway to San Francisco and Monterey Bay, California to attend a music festival over Memorial Day weekend—excited for great music, scenic views, and a relaxing escape.
But just three hours before check-in, my Airbnb host cancelled my reservation without warning.
I immediately called Airbnb customer service, hoping they could help, but unfortunately, their options were limited. The few available places in the area were either way over my budget or more than an hour away from the festival location. I spent nearly three hours scrolling, calling, and stressing, trying to find something—anything—reasonable and nearby.
It was exhausting. And instead of kicking off my vacation with excitement, I started it with anxiety and frustration.
That experience made me realize something important:
If I had a travel agent in my corner, I could’ve avoided all of that.
Someone else could’ve stepped in, handled the chaos, and helped me find a solution—so I could have spent those four hours enjoying my trip, not troubleshooting it.
